Negara dan Sittlichkeit: Menilik Peran Moral dalam Politik Menurut Charles Taylor
Keywords:
Charles Taylor, moral, politic, community, justice, stateAbstract
This study examines Charles Taylor’s critique of liberal anthropology, particularly his engagement with John Rawls and Robert Nozick. Taylor challenges the liberal view of individuals as autonomous agents, arguing that they are shaped by moral communities. His critique highlights the limits of procedural justice and the need to recognize substantive social goods. Applying Taylor’s perspective to the Indonesia context, this study explores how communal values influence democracy, justice, and social integration. In a pluralistic society like Indonesia, Taylor’s insights offer a critical framework for understanding the balance between individual rights and collective identity. By connecting Taylor’s critique to Indonesian politics, this research contributes to debates on liberalism and communitarianism. It underscores the need for a context-sensitive approach to political philosophy, reaffirming the role of moral communities in shaping democratic ideals.
