Harmoni Lintas Iman dalam Gema Takbir: Studi tentang Partisipasi Gereja Katolik Paroki Mataram dalam Malam Takbiran

Abstract

This study aims to examine the phenomenon of interreligious harmony in Mataram City, Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, by highlighting the participation of the Mataram Catholic Parish in the Takbiran Night celebration as a concrete expression of tolerance. This participation has been practiced for a long time and continues to persist as an embodiment of the Church’s openness in building harmonious relationships with people of different religious backgrounds. Such involvement reflects the commitment of the Catholic Church to be present, to grow, and to be accepted within a pluralistic social context. This study employs a qualitative approach through literature review and an analysis of both the physical and symbolic forms of the Church’s involvement in the Ramadan parade and Takbiran Night. The findings reveal that, despite the ongoing circulation of issues related to intolerance, genuine and dynamic practices of tolerance are indeed evident in Mataram City. The presence of the Catholic Church in a major celebration of the Muslim community, which constitutes the majority in Mataram, affirms that the city remains an inclusive space for all members of society. This participation is not merely ceremonial; rather, it represents a concrete form of interreligious dialogue that fosters meaningful relationships and generates tangible social solidarity within the community.
