Kontribusi Pastoral Konseling Terhadap Resiliensi Diri Transpuan Fajar Sikka Maumere dari Diskriminasi dan Kekerasan Berbasis Gender

Abstract

This study aims to determine the contribution of pastoral counseling to the resilience of Transwomen from gender-based discrimination and violence. The Transwomen in question are Transwomen who are members of the Fajar Sikka group in Maumere, Flores. This discrimination and violence are known to be the result of misunderstandings about sex, gender, and sexuality, which also receive cultural legitimacy and narrow interpretations of religious doctrine. The method used in this study is a qualitative, descriptive analysis with a phenomenological approach. The researcher explores the subjective experiences of Transwomen in the process of following pastoral counseling guidance. Data collection was carried out through interviews and participatory observations of Transwomen, and elaborating information about the dynamics of the Fajar Sikka Transwomen group in the mass media and social media. This study found that 1) Pastoral counseling helped revitalize Transwomen's views on sexuality as a gift from God and their personal nobility as an image of God. This effort helped Transwomen accept their gender differences. 2) Pastoral counseling helped Transwomen strengthen consolidation and solidarity among themselves as peers. This solidity can bring opportunities for the opening of inclusive spaces for the self-expression of other Transwomen. 3) Pastoral counseling helps the realization and self-expression of Transwomen through artistic instruments and charitable social actions. This study concludes that pastoral counseling contributes to the resilience of Transwomen individually and organizationally. Through it, Transwomen can survive, adapt, and transform their conditions through militant social, artistic, and creative economic activities to support their own lives and have an impact on others.
