Soteriologi dan Ekologi: Memaknai Surat Kolose 1:15-20 dalam Kesadaran Ekologis

Abstract

This study aims to reconstruct the understanding of soteriology from an anthropocentric paradigm to an ecological soteriology by interpreting Colossians 1:15-20 with ecological awareness. The focus of this research is to integrate salvation in Christ not only for humanity but also for all creation, thus emphasizing ecological responsibility as part of the Christian faith. The methods used include a literature study approach, textual analysis, and grammatical exegesis. The findings reveal thar Colossians 1:15-20 affirms Christ as the center and sustainer of all creation, where the work of salvation encompasses the restoration of the entire universe. Therefore, soteriology should not be understood solely within an anthropocentric framework but must extend to an ecological dimension. The church plays a crucial role in fostering ecological awareness through the proclamation of the ecological soteriology and taking concrete actions the care for the environment. Ultimately, this study assert that ecological soteriology is a theologically relevant step in the midst of the dominace of anthropocentric soteriology, which has led believers to neglect ecological crises.
