10 Tahun Laudato Si': Refleksi dan Prospek Teologi Hijau di Tengah Krisis Ekologi Global

Abstract

A decade after its publication, Pope Francis’s Laudato Si’ has significantly influenced theological discourse and social action concerning ecological justice. This paper reflects on the implementation of Laudato Si’ over the past ten years and explores the prospects of green theology as a transformative paradigm in response to the ongoing environmental crisis. Despite its profound impact on Catholic institutions, policymakers, and grassroots movements, the practical application of Laudato Si’ faces considerable challenges, including resistance from economic and political structures. This study employs a qualitative approach through a literature review, analyzing how the encyclical has shaped ecological awareness within the Church and beyond. The discussion highlights Laudato Si’ as a prophetic call rooted in the Gospel, advocating for integral ecology that interconnects environmental sustainability with social justice. Green theology, although not explicitly mentioned in the encyclical, serves as the underlying spirit guiding its moral and theological foundation. This paper argues that for Laudato Si’ to become a lasting movement, the Church must move beyond rhetoric and integrate ecological consciousness into its teachings, policies, and daily practices. The study concludes that the future of green theology depends on its ability to bridge theological reflection and concrete action, ensuring that the Church actively participates in shaping an ecologically just world.
